River Education Program provide students with “hands-on”
environmental education. Using a Coast Guard certified pontoon
boat, students explore the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers at water
level, collecting and observing aquatic biology and wildlife.  By
gaining access to many parts of the rivers not available by land,
students have the opportunity to perform scientific research, using
electronic equipment owned by ECEF. Students can also observe
the changes in river habitats.  Studying the regional aquatic flora
and fauna gives students new insights into the value of these
watersheds, and a new perspective of their impact on our
environment, making them better stewards of the land.
